WebConfig Updater is a small utility to automatically update your WebConfig configuration file
using FTP when your IP address changes.

when your IP address changes, it reads the template file and replaces each %%IP%% in the file
with your public IP address when it writes the file to your website. It does not change or
alter the local template file. The rest of the file is written as it is in the template file.
You can leave the template file in the templates folder or copy it to another folder. It will
only update one WebConfig File. If you need to update multiple configuration files, each
technician will need to run WebConfig Updater on their systems.

NOTE: You will need to edit the template to reflect the correct port and other settings for your
customer module.

If you are using a web server that uses PHP, upload the "getip.php" file from the WebPages
folder (not the template file) to into a subfolder or root folder on your website.

If you are using a web server that uses Active Server Pages (asp), upload the "getip.asp" file
from the WebPages folder (not the template file) to into a subfolder or root folder on your
website.

Run WebConfigUpdater.exe so you can configure it to connect to your website.

In the HTTP:// box, enter the URL (without the http:// prefix) to the getip.asp or getip.php
page you uploaded to your website. Example: If you uploaded the getip.php page to the root of
your website (not a subfolder) you would enter (change mywebsite.com to your actual website):
www.mywebsite.com/getip.php
If you uploaded it to a subfolder named myip and named the file index.php you would enter:
www.mywebsite.com/myip/index.php

Put a checkmark in the Auto Update box to enable WebConfig Updater to automatically check your
IP address and update your configuration file. If you don't turn this feature on, you will have
to lick the Update button at the bottom left to manually force an update.

Set the AutoUpdate interval to the number of seconds you would like the program to check if
your IP address has changed. The default is set for every 10 minutes (600 seconds).

Enter your FTP Site address, port (default is 21), Username and Password.

Enter the name of the folder on your website you want to store the configuration file in.
The program will not create the folder so you must insure it already exists on your website.
If you access your site via FTP and have to open another folder (such as the pub_html) to
see your site's files & folders, you will need to enter that folder name. If you go directly
to your files when you FTP to your site enter a forward slash (/) or leave it blank.
If your configuration file will be in a subfolder under the above, enter another forward
slash (/) and the name of the folder.
Example 1: pub_html
Example 2: /
Example 3: pub_html/myip

Enter the full name you want the configuration file to be named on your website in the
Destination Filename box. The program will use the template file to create this file.
Example: 1.txt

Enter the full path to the template file on your computer in the Local Template File box
or Click the [...] button on the right end of the box to browse for the template file.

Click the Update button at the bottom left and see if your IP address appears in the
Current IP Address box at the top of the window. Errors will be shown in red at the bottom
of the window.

Important Note: Once you have the program properly configured with no errors and you can see
your ip address in the "Current IP address" box at the top of the window, click the
"Exit/Stop Updater" button to save your settings in the registry. If you don't, your settings
will be lost when you reboot the computer. You only have to do this once.

Create a Shortcut to WebConfig Updater in your Startup folder.

Relaunch the program through the shortcut. Click the "Minimize to Tray" button and you should
see the black Advantig icon in the System Tray near the clock. If you don't minimize it, the
program settings window will be shown the next time it is launched. Reboot your computer and
check again for the black Advantig icon by the clock. If it's not there, you didn't place the
shortcut in the Startup folder correctly or you may have software running that blocks other
programs from starting on your computer. You may need to configure those programs to allow
WebConfig Updater to run.

You may have to configure your firewall to allow the WebConfig Updater program to access
the internet if your web sever is not on your local LAN.
